Matn (English)

Ubaidullah bin Abdullah bin Utbah narrated: "Umar bin Al-Khattab asked Abu Waqid Al-Laithi what Allah's Messenger would recite during Al-Fitr and Al-Adha, so he said: 'He would recite: Qaf, By the Glorious Quran and the Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder.'"

Matn (Arabic)

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُوسَى الأَنْصَارِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنُ بْنُ عِيسَى، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْمَازِنِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، سَأَلَ أَبَا وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيَّ مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقْرَأُ بِهِ فِي الْفِطْرِ وَالأَضْحَى قَالَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ بـــ‏(‏ق والقرآنِ الْمَجِيدِ ‏)‏ ‏(‏اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ ‏)‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ‏.‏

Mas'ud said: 'Umar b. al-Khattab asked Abu Waqid al-Laithi: What did the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recite during the prayer on the day of sacrifice and on the breaking of the fast ? 22960 Sunan Ibn Majah It was narrated that ‘Ubaidullah bin ‘Abdullah said: “Umar went out on the day of ‘Eid and sent word to Abu Waqid Al-Laithi asking what the Prophet (ﷺ) used to recite on this day. He said: ‘Qaf [Qaf (50)] and ‘Iqtarabat’.” [Al-Qamar (54)] Compare Asnad
7888 Sahih Muslim 'Abdullah b. 'Umar reported that (his father) 'Umar b. Khattab asked Abu Waqid al-Laithi what the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) used to recite on 'Id-ul-Adha and 'Id-ul-Fitr. He said: He used to recite in them:" Qaf. By the Glorious Qur'an" (Surah 1)," The Hour drew near, and the moon was rent asunder" (Surah liv.). Compare Asnad
23321 Jami' al-Tirmidhi Narrated Anas: "The people of Makkah asked the Prophet (ﷺ) for a sign, so the moon was cleft asunder in Makkah two times (meaning two parts), so the following was revealed: 'The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder, up to his saying: 'Magic, Mustamir (54:1 & 2)' meaning 'Going away.'"
