Ahmed bin Suliaman narrates from Abu Dawood narrating from Sufyan bin Sa‘id Ath-Thawri narrating from al-Fadl bin Dakayn narrating from Sufyan bin Uyaynah narrating from Abdullah bin Dinar narrating from Dhakwan Abu Salah al-Saman al-Ziyat narrating from Abu Hurairah.

Matn (English)

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'Faith has seventy-odd branches, the most virtuous of which is La ilaha illallah (there is none worthy of worship except Allah) and the least of which is removing something harmful from the road. And modesty (Al-Haya') is a branch of faith.'"

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ "‏ الإِيمَانُ بِضْعٌ وَسَبْعُونَ شُعْبَةً أَفْضَلُهَا لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَأَوْضَعُهَا إِمَاطَةُ الأَذَى عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ وَالْحَيَاءُ شُعْبَةٌ مِنَ الإِيمَانِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

33328 Sunan Abi Da'ud Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) as saying : Faith has over seventy branches, the most excellent of which is the declaration that there is no god but Allah, and the humblest of which is the removal of a bone from the road. 29097 Sunan an-Nasa'i It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that: The Prophet [SAW] said: "Faith has seventy odd branches and modes (Al-Haya') is a branch of faith." Compare Asnad
