Isnad is built on the ElasticSearch search engine which means that you can use ElasticSearch query terms to refine your searches.

The table below provides a conscise overview and description of the various query terms available.

+ Allows you to search for two or more keywords or phrases, both occuring in a document. This is equivalent to an AND operator. | Allows you to search for two or more keywords or phrases, either of which occurs in a document. This is equivalent to an OR operator. - Allows you to exclude a given keyword or phrase from your search. This is equivalent to a NOT operator.
" Encloses keywords to form an exact phrase which should be present in a document. * Placed at the end of a term to transform it into a prefix query. This is equivalent to a wildcard operator. () Encloses queries which are to be performed first. Essentially signifying precedence.
~N When placed after a word, allows you to specify the edit distance for fuzziness (N represents the edit distance). ~N When placed after a phrase, allows you to specify the slop amount.
